I purchased this two weeks ago and I am very disappointed with it. The reason I bought it was that when you're not wearing the strap, you can still get a heart rate reading by touching the metal on the watch. However, that same feature makes the monitor useless for people who sweat. The reason for this is that the sweat on your wrist somehow seems to activate this manual touch feature. This means that the continuous heart rate reading stops working regularly and at the end of your workout you have no idea how many calories you've actually burnt in total.

Considering that most people buy one of these things to work out with and when you work out you do tend to sweat, I don't think it is fit for its purpose. Having said that, it works perfectly when you're not...
