- awesome heart rate monitor
I bought the FR60 because:
a) its a heart rate monitor that looks like a watch instead of something out of star trek,
b) garmin products have a reputation for working properly. Previous monitors for my bike were very unreliable in this department.
c) it automatcially downloads data to your pc as soon as you enter the house without plugging it in or having to know anything at all about computers. I'm too lazy to do this manually as with previous products.
d) It connects to a footpod, heart rate sensor and speed/ cadence sensor (for bikes).
e) You can completely control the layout of what is shown on the watch (and there are plenty of fields to choose from).
The watch is excellent and and does all these things brilliantly.
Garmin Connect is pretty good and simple to use as well. As it automatically records every exercise you do you build up a great record of achievements. This has been very motivating.

Bought the model with bike speed, cadence, footpod and premium heart rate (soft) strap.
Bike sensors pretty simple to attach and have worked perfectly (previously had a Polar - probably eight years ago - and the sensors were always dropping in and out).
Screens for bike are very customisable - you can choose from loads of data items, but I like to have heart rate & cadence always showing on two rows and toggle between speed, time and distance on the third.
Uploading to Garmin Connect (to view your training sessions) is really easy and shows just about everything you'd want (it could be a bit more customisable).
Two minors negatives (but not worth losing a star):
- If you update the watch's firmware you have to reconfigure the settings and pair with sensors again.
- I don't think you can edit the training files in Garmin Connect. I got one dodgy reading showing my heart rate at 240 (surely not!) so it shows this as the max and I...

I bought this as a birthday present for my son and he was very pleased but after only 10 days use the face is misting up.
We will see what customer response we get and I will update review.
